Sei Laser, a global specialist in developing and manufacturing advanced industrial laser systems and solutions, has developed the newest evolution of the Roll to Garment technology applied to jeans production and will disclose it within the first edition of Denim Première Vision Tokyo along with a special collaboration with designer Federico Barengo.
Roll To Garment integrates operations traditionally carried out in separate stages. While laser treatment is usually applied on fabric before being cut, the new process integrates the the fabric laser cutting step with the laser treatment within a single automated process. Such innovation eliminates intermediate production passages and dramatically automates the workflow, reducing manual intervention while increasing consistency, flexibility, efficiency, and speed.
Its impact is particularly significant in product development. Roll to Garment can reduce prototyping and sampling times by up to 90%. This acceleration opens new possibilities for experimentation, short production runs, customization, and more agile manufacturing models capable of responding to market demand faster.
The technology also offers potential benefits in material management. The precision and cleanliness of laser cutting can significantly reduce the release of microfibers during cutting operations, particularly when processing fabrics containing synthetic components, helping to minimize the risk of microplastic dispersion.
Within the upcoming Denim Premiere Vision Tokyo, Sei Laser will present an exclusive capsule collection developed in collaboration with designer Federico Barengo entirely produced by using the Roll to Garment technology.
Federico Barengo contributed the creative vision, design, and artistic direction, taking inspiration from Japan and the Tokyo edition of the show, while SEI Laser provided its expertise and manufacturing capabilities.
The collaboration with Barengo represents the first expression of Sei Laser’s involvement in a series of future projects involving designers, fashion brands, and creative partners from around the world.
Sei Laser will participate in the Tokyo show in collaboration with Comnet, its local Japanese distributor, and will be able to present and demonstrate its full range of solutions dedicated to the fashion and textile industry.
A compact Sei Laser system will also be operating directly at the booth, allowing visitors to customize selected denim items and accessories, including the official Denim Première Vision Tokyo tote bags.
The live demonstration of the company’s machinery will show how laser technology can move beyond traditional industrial environments and become part of the retail experience while exploring the important role that laser personalization technology can play.
“Denim Première Vision Tokyo provides the ideal opportunity for us to demonstrate how laser technology can contribute to the evolution of the fashion and denim industries,” said Ettore Fustinoni, CEO, Sei Laser.
“Our goal is to make the very best of our technological expertise available to brands and designers, offering tools that accelerate the journey from concept to product, encourage creative experimentation, and enable new manufacturing models. Roll to Garment is a tangible example of this vision,” he added.
Sei Laser is an Italian laser machine specialist from Bergamo. Since 1982 it has operated in different fields, including lighting technology, visual communication, graphic arts, labeling, packaging, fashion, interior design, and automotive, to name a few.
