Eray Karaduman, Calik Denim: “More value creation, innovation, and partnerships are our future”

Eray Karaduman

A new chapter has started for Calik Denim under a new leadership structure, led by Eray Karaduman. Its new general manager, whose past professional experience includes top management positions at companies like Kordsa North America and previously Unilever and Coca-Cola, explained what Calik Denim’s next challenges and targets are in the present complex market scenario.

What is Calik now focused on in order to face the present market challenges?

At Calik Denim, our focus today is not simply on navigating market challenges, but on redefining how value is created in a highly dynamic and complex environment.

We are moving beyond the traditional role of a fabric supplier toward becoming a more integrated, insight-driven partner—one that combines innovation, design, and strategic thinking with a deeper understanding of both our customers and the end consumer.

In this chapter, we are placing strong emphasis on three key pillars: accelerating innovation, increasing agility across our operations, and strengthening long-term partnerships. At the same time, we are investing in our ability to translate market insights into meaningful product stories and collections.

Our latest collection, Earth Echoes, is a clear reflection of this direction. It represents not only a product offering but also a more holistic approach where engineering, storytelling, and sustainability come together to create differentiated value.

Ultimately, our goal is to support our partners not only with competitive products yet also by helping them manage risk, respond faster to change, and connect more meaningfully with their consumers.

Which are the company’s most strategic global markets it aims to focus on? How does it aim to grow there?

Our strategic focus remains on the US, Europe, and the Far East—each representing distinct opportunities and expectations.

Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, we aim to grow by aligning our capabilities with the specific dynamics of each region. In markets like the US high fashion look, performance-driven and innovation-led products are key. In Europe, sustainability, regulation, and design leadership shape demand. In the Far East, particularly Japan, craftsmanship and authenticity are highly valued.

Our growth strategy is therefore based on a combination of deep market understanding, strong local partnerships, and globally relevant product narratives.

Collections such as Earth Echoes play a critical role in this strategy. They allow us to present a unified yet adaptable story—one that resonates across different markets while addressing their unique needs.

At the same time, we are increasing our visibility and positioning through key global platforms, while expanding collaborations with premium and forward-thinking brands.

What are the main innovations, product categories, and segments Calik aims to focus on?

Innovation remains at the core of our long-term strategy, but our approach today goes beyond developing technologies—it is about translating innovation into meaningful, scalable, and desirable products.

We are focusing on three main areas: advanced performance solutions, comfort-driven constructions, and next-generation sustainable materials, including bio-based alternatives.

Technologies such as Revo-Su, which significantly reduces water consumption, and B210, enabling biodegradability in stretch denim, are central to this approach. At the same time, we are further strengthening our performance-focused innovations with solutions like True Fit, which helps preserve the original form of denim over time, enhancing durability and extending product lifecycle.

In parallel, we are investing in bio-based material developments such as Bio Form, which reflects our ambition to integrate renewable inputs into denim construction without compromising performance or aesthetics.

What differentiates us is how we bring all these elements together into cohesive product stories. Earth Echoes is a strong example of this approach—combining rigid and fluid structures, advanced engineering, and a refined, nature-inspired design language.

It reflects our belief that the future of denim lies in the seamless integration of performance, sustainability, and aesthetics. In this context, we are strengthening our position in both premium and high-performance segments, where innovation, storytelling, and long-term value creation are becoming increasingly critical.

What economic results does Calik aim to reach?

While financial growth remains important, our primary focus is on building a sustainable and value-driven business model.

Over the next three to five years, our ambition is to further strengthen our position among the leading global denim manufacturers by increasing our share of value-added products and deepening our presence in strategic markets.

A key part of this journey is also evolving our positioning—moving closer to the end consumer and building a stronger brand perspective through content, storytelling, and product experience.

We believe that the future of the industry will be shaped not only by what we produce but by how we communicate, inspire, and connect. In this context, collections like Earth Echoes are not only commercial drivers, but also platforms to express our vision and engage with a broader audience.

By focusing on long-term value creation, innovation, and meaningful partnerships, we are confident that sustainable financial growth will follow.
