How transparency and creativity find common ground at Jeanologia

Milan, 23 October, 2026—Finding new solutions that can help the industry progress is a must today, more than ever before. During the last edition of Kingpins, Jeanologia presented two new achievements that can help advance in terms of transparency and creativity.

They span from an upgrade of Jeanologia’s EIM impact’s measuring system, to Common Ground, a new inspiring camouflage effect finishing carried ahead in collaboration with denim and sportswear expert Sue Barrett.

A second generation EIM

The Spanish finishing specialist has presented a new tool that expands its EIM (Environmental Impact Measurement) across the different stages of garment production.

After more than 15 years, they launched EIM (Environmental Impact Measurement), a system that calculates the environmental impact of garment finishing for jeans production. The newly launched system is more complete, as it can also measure the yarn’s and fabric’s impact under one common methodology.

They offer this new system in two variants—an EIM including independent yarn, fabric, and garment finishing modules, allowing each stage to be measured separately, and EIM+, bringing results together to provide a complete view of the product.

Using primary production data, EIM measures water and energy consumption and chemical use, as well as worker impact at the garment-finishing stage, and classifies environmental performance as low, medium, or high impact.

The information can be traced and is structured for tools such as the Digital Product Passport and Life Cycle Assessment—in compliance with the upcoming EU EPR legislation. While EIM has its roots in denim and the measurement of garment-finishing impact, this new generation expands its application to any textile product, from yarn to finished garment.

Nature, the best inspiration source

Jeanologia’s new creative development was developed in collaboration with Carme Santacruz, creative director at Jeanologia, and the expert industry insider Sue Barrett.

The new collection, Common Ground, is inspired by textures, shadows, and patterns found in the natural environment, like leaves, vegetal motives, and other similar graphics obtained by using Jeanologia’s laser and G2 Ozone technologies.

They used laser treatments to create patterns, contrasts, and depth directly onto the garment, while ozone worked with color and aging effects to shape the final look.

“There are a handful of projects we remember as ‘the ones,’ built on true collaboration and creativity. Common Ground is one of those. It has been a chance to bring together my passion for camouflage and utility clothing with nature, craft, and technology, and reinterpret these references in a new way,” said Sue Barrett.

“For some of us, the creative process is as meaningful as the final collection. Common Ground made us think about the balance between becoming part of our surroundings while still preserving our own identity, what makes us unique while sharing a common ground,” added Carme Santacruz.
