How Jacob Cohën is debuting in the US

Entering the US market is an ambitious goal for Jacob Cohen. That’s what the prestigious Italian fashion and jeanswear brand has just done by opening its first flagship store in New York—an occurrence it will celebrate with an opening party on 27 October.

Based on Madison Avenue, at 67th Street, in one of the city’s most iconic luxury destinations, the over 400 sq.-meters, flagship was designed by Jennifer Tommasi Bardelle, president and creative director, with the aim to celebrate the brand’s distinctive identity and redefine the concept of hospitality.

“The opening of our first flagship store in the US is a major milestone for us,” said Jennifer Tommasi Bardelle. “It means competing in the home market of denim. It is a challenge that Jacob Cohen has enthusiastically embraced, drawing on its expertise, Italian style, and the exceptional quality of the materials used in our collections,” she added.

The store actually wants to welcome visitors by offering a multisensory experience. It begins at the entrance, where the brand’s signature fragrance envelops the space, evoking the olfactory identity that has long characterized Jacob Cohen’s boutiques and collections.

Conceived as a tribute to New Yorkers, the store offers a new gathering place where sophisticated elegance meets Italian style.

The boutique unfolds across two levels. The ground floor is dedicated to the women’s collections and features cognac-colored leather wall paneling, luxurious velvet in both smooth and fine-ribbed finishes, and tactile textures throughout the flooring, wall coverings, and rugs.

Warm, richly textured materials create a welcoming, home-like atmosphere, complemented by denim, the brand’s signature fabric. Used on wall panels, seating, mirror frames, and poufs, denim becomes an integral part of the interior design.

In the fitting rooms, denim details and leather poufs are paired with the romantic touch of bespoke floral wallpaper featuring the Jacob Cohen logo, created exclusively for the space.

An impressive staircase, with leather-clad steps, a matching handrail, and monogram-motif wall panelling, leads to the first floor, dedicated to the men’s collections.

A coffered ceiling, a denim pool table, and a bar area featuring a denim-covered counter and seating evoke the atmosphere of a sophisticated and elegant gentlemen’s club, where denim once again takes center stage, expressing the very essence of Jacob Cohen’s DNA.

Vertical structures in light-gold steel, together with the display fixtures and clothing rails, establish a distinctive architectural rhythm and create a dialogue between the exterior and interior, while preserving the transparency and natural light of the store’s twelve windows.

“I believe all our stores should be places where people come together, even before they become places to shop. I envisioned the New York store as a sophisticated and elegant living room, rigorously made in Italy, just like every Jacob Cohen item, where our men’s and women’s collections become elements of design, to be admired before being worn,” pointed out Jennifer Tomasi Bardelle.
