Returning from holidays, getting back to school, and finding a new working rhythm—that’s all about the month of October. Finding time to read books that disclose unexpected themes, bios, and fresh inspiration is a must of this part of the year. That’s why we chose three interesting reads by Marina Spadafora, Mohsin Sajid, and Zennure Danışman.
Nothing is impossible
Hitting bookshops since the beginning of October, they will present today, 8 October, in Milan at Fondazione Sozzani, at 6.30PM, via Bovisasca 87, the book “Se sembra impossibile puoi farlo-Una vita nella moda con una missione speciale” (If it seems impossible, you can do it—A life in fashion with a special mission) by Marina Spadafora.
This designer and pioneer in ethical fashion, activist and international consultant, has dedicated her career to transforming fashion into a tool for social responsibility, in addition to promoting social sustainability and raising awareness about the impact of textile production.
She is now launching her second book, following her first—”La rivoluzione comincia dal tuo armadio” (The Revolution Starts in Your Wardrobe), co-authored with Luisa Ciuni in 2020.
She has also collaborated on United Nations projects in various African countries and received the “Women Together Award” at the United Nations in New York in 2015. Not less important, she has served as the Italian national coordinator for Fashion Revolution since 2014.
The story unfolds through her journey across many fashion houses, in the roaring ’90s, when she launched her own brand, in addition to collaborating with Ferragamo, Prada, Miu Miu, and Marni, and serving as creative director for Altromercato fashion and accessories, which led her to work with artisans around the world.
She married the son of Audrey Hepburn, a cinema and style icon who inspired her. “She was a simple, fun, and welcoming person. She came into my life and immediately left her mark.”
Her story recounts how she has continued her work after working in designer fashion, getting committed to a spirit of social and environmental responsibility—summarized by her motto, “Fashion with a Mission”–that made her become an international ambassador for ethical and sustainable fashion.
It is also the journey of a woman who, rooted in the love of her large extended family, has crossed continents and weathered romantic disappointments. She did not shy away from difficulties, from her company’s crisis to her battle with illness—always driven by the firm conviction that “nothing is impossible unless you try.”
Make your own jeans…
Endrime, a UK-based denim creative agency run by husband-and-wife team Mohsin Sajid and Sadia Rafique, has been publishing various denim-focused books in recent times.
While operating from their London studio that spans across design consultancy, education, and publishing, they are releasing two new books.
The first one is “How to make a pair of selvedge jeans” written and illustrated by Mohsin Sajid. This publication is a comprehensive guide for beginners and denim enthusiasts to construct a pair of Endrime jeans on industrial and domestic sewing machines. It is a detailed step-by-step guide on how to make a pair of jeans, learning from a denim master as the book’s author.
Worldwide release started on October 5th, 2026, via the Endrime e-commerce page with rollouts to other fashion bookshops across the US, Europe, and Asia.
The book’s premiere will happen at the “Kingpins Show” in Amsterdam on October 14th, 2026, followed by a Japanese launch at the premium denim vintage trade show “Inspiration Tokyo” on October 31st, 2026.
“This much-anticipated denim jean construction book has been in the making for over ten years. The book includes 120 pages dedicated to the craft of making a 5-pocket selvedge Endrime jean. The fit is based on a 1937 jean, traced by me from a raw deadstock 1937 original, but enhanced according to more modern jeans construction,” Sajid explained.
“As a denim lecturer/professor for more than 20 years, currently teaching across four major fashion universities in the UK, UAL Central St Martins, UAL London College of Fashion, Kingston University, and Ravensbourne University, along with other courses at universities in the US, Japan, Hong Kong, Italy, Germany, Amsterdam, Singapore, and Malaysia,” he added.
“I teach hundreds of fashion students each year through my denim-making construction workshops, historical workshops, and mentorship programs. Nothing like this type of book has ever been created before in this premium way of construction. Most of this knowledge is gatekept. This book is my Opus magnum; it contains 120 pages, and it’s based on my denim masterclasses that I have been teaching for well over 20 years,” Sajid added.
…and fade them at best
The second book, also published by Endrime, is “Born to fade—Raw to washed denim,” was written by Zennure Danışman, an expert insider of the denim industry and wash expert.
This publication offers an educational round-up covering 75 denim finishes, from raw to finished garment. The book includes full wash recipes with photos, processes, and videos for each wash.
Among companies supporting the project are laundry industry companies Tonello, Officina39, Howa, Garmon, and Kaiser Tekstil and denim manufacturers including Artistic Milliners, Cone Denim, Indigo Textiles, Kaihara Denim, and Orta. All garments were made by EREKS Blue Matters, with additional support by HMS, CleanKore, and The CC.
Also, this book will debut at the “Kingpins Show” in Amsterdam on October 14th, 2026, followed by a Japanese launch at the premium denim vintage trade show “Inspiration Tokyo” on October 31st, 2026.
