How Niber can make a change with PFAS-free electrospun polymers

It’s not science fiction, but reality. Tomorrow’s clothes will be made with ultra-fine electrospun nanoscale breathable polymers, according to Jaemin and Jaehyung Park, co-founders of Niber Technologies, a Southeast Asia industrial-scale manufacturer of PFAS-free electrospun nanofiber membranes.

The company was founded in 2019 and traces its origins in South Korea around 20 years ago upon the belief in a world-changing innovation that could come from nanofiber technology.

Today it owns a headquarters in Singapore and operations in the Philippines and has grown into a company with offices across multiple regions. This family-led company carries a global mission—to weave nanofiber science into fabrics for everyday life, making products lighter, safer, more sustainable, and comfortable.

Niber has developed a patented electrospinning platform that produces ultra-fine polymer fibers at an industrial scale. By tuning fiber diameter, membrane thickness, and pore structure at the nanoscale, they can engineer materials categorically beyond what conventional manufacturing can produce.

Thanks to their proprietary electrospinning process, they have pioneered next generation PFAS, PFC-free nanofiber  scalable, sustainable membranes engineered to deliver comfort, protection, and performance across industries, including apparel.

As the apparel industry is increasingly transitioning away from PFAS-based materials, Niber aims to establish its technology that enables lightweight, breathable performance textiles that could become a material solution but could also be recognized as a standard across the value chain. Moreover, Niber can produce materials that can be water-, wind-proof, durable, flexible, and easy to adapt to different uses without adding bulk.

“We’ve always believed that the value of our technology goes beyond the membrane itself and into how it performs in real products. Building an ingredient brand is a deliberate step for us—a direct signal of the seriousness and ambition, and of how we see Niber evolving as a company,” says Jaemin Park, co-founder, Niber Technologies.

In order  to develop and strategically introduce the brand in the market they have appointed Tomas Vucurevic, an ingredient brand expert and strategy consulting through his own Braind company, located in Munich and Ljubljana Slovenia. He will operate as as chief brand advisor.

“Graduating from a membrane-only business to a fully structured ingredient brand is the natural evolution of what we are building at Niber. Partnering with Braind and Tomas gives us the strategic architecture to extract full value from our electrospinning platform, ensuring that Niber becomes the name that brands specify, retailers trust, and consumers recognize as the leader for PFAS-free ultra-breathable performance,” commented Richard Beck, president, Niber Technologies.

“Building an ingredient brand is fundamentally about making complex technology legible. What makes this particularly exciting for me is the opportunity to do this with a next-generation, Asia-based company that brings a true end-to-end perspective, in an industry that has long been shaped by established Western ingredient brands,” commented Tomas Vucurevic.
