Gas enters the kidswear market by signing an agreement with Gimel

Gas Milano 1984 has signed a licensing agreement for the Gas Kids line with Gimel, a company specializing in junior apparel whose portfolio includes other brands such as Elisabetta Franchi La Mia Bambina, Pinko Up, and Miss Blumarine.

The licensing agreement will see the line debut starting with the f/w 2027–2028 season, although Gas’s new creative director, Tony Ranalli, will present an initial capsule collection as early as s/s 2027.

The licensing agreement has a term of five years with an option to renew for another five years and calls for the development of a line dedicated to the 0–16 age group, which will reinterpret the brand’s authentic, denim-oriented DNA through contemporary, high-quality collections.

The agreement with Gimel comes at a turning point for Gas, which is currently undergoing a phase of profound strategic transformation under the leadership of CEO Romolo D’Orazio and its new chairman, Andrew Bordin, who, through Bordin Holding, has acquired control of the brand as part of a plan to enhance the brand’s history and identity, and international expansion.

The decision to partner with Gimel enables Gas to operate through an advanced industrial platform, creative governance integrated with licensed brands, and an extensive international distribution network.

Gimel is, in fact, completing a major reorganization process that has transformed the company from a traditional licensee into an innovative, integrated platform in the premium kidswear sector.

This shift was made possible by the entry of 1627 Holding as a strategic partner in October 2025. Matteo Spaggiari, head of 1627 Holding and, as of last week, CEO of Gimel, has joined forces with chairman Francesco Dente to strengthen the management team with the addition of Riccardo Bullio—a manager with extensive experience in product development and operations for major international fashion houses—and Giovanni Pagliula, who specializes in strategic development and the international expansion of luxury brands.

With the Gas Kids line—whose commercial development has been entrusted to Fabio Cancelliere, former general and commercial director of several top players in the kids’ sector—Gas and Gimel are preparing to tackle market challenges together.
