Elastic stone and smart doors are the future for Way Home

Way Home showroom, Milan

For Way Home, the home of the future will be technological, hyper-connected, and innovative. These home design trends take center stage at Way Home’s new high-end, futuristic showroom—a spacious 1,500-sq.-meter venue located at Via Enrico Cialdini 45 in Milan.

The new hub showcases the latest innovations in interior design, offering solutions that bridge the gap between the excellence of Italian design and taste and the most advanced Asian hi-tech from China through, for example, innovations such as smart doors, smart toilets, and elastic stone.

Way Home was born from the vision of its founder, Alessia Hu, a Chinese entrepreneur who, while attempting to renovate and furnish her own home, felt the lack of a one-stop shop capable of offering comprehensive support, guaranteeing a finished project of the highest quality.

After two years of intense work, she founded WayHome, a place where you can design and build your home in its entirety: from wall coverings to furnishings, from the initial creative concept to the final execution details, right down to outdoor solutions. Within this space, designed for both private clients and industry professionals, anyone can find the most refined design solutions, the manufacturing excellence of Italian furniture, along with the most advanced technological solutions for various applications—from residential and work spaces to the hospitality industry.

Among the latest innovations they host a series of revolutionary high-tech products such as the Smart WC, a range of Smart Doors, and Elastic Stone. The Smart WC, for example, is equipped with sensors that detect when someone is approaching and activate various functions tailored to the user. The Smart Door is a security door weighing at least 200 kilograms, depending on its size and the high-quality materials used in its construction, and it opens via touch sensors and facial recognition.

Elastic Stone is a cladding that looks like stone but has a fiberglass mesh backing with various silicone and plastic agglomerates. These create a stone, travertine, or other similar effects. It is available in various sizes and suitable for both interior and exterior cladding, with approximately 40 different types of cladding options, ranging from a few millimeters to two centimeters in thickness.

Among the other innovations presented during its launch, Way Home also unveiled “Segmenta,” a new line of modular bookcases. The concept is based on the idea of modules as segments—that is, as elements of the overall design.

For each module, different materials can be used, such as various fine woods like stained oak, natural oak, walnut, and “Spessart”. For the side panels, the design is enhanced with textures and luxurious details such as glass, marble, fabrics, and leather, available in a wide range of variations.

The showroom is designed as a meeting place for architects, designers, planners, and interior designers, and as a creative hub where they can find inspiration for new solutions.

At the heart of the space is also a vast and comprehensive materials library available to external professionals. Every item on display can be fully custom-made. Additionally, the in-house design team can collaborate with architects, offering technical expertise and strategic consulting, backed by top-tier suppliers.
