LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world’s leading luxury group, and WHP Global, a company specializing in brand management, have reached a definitive agreement for WHP Global to acquire the Marc Jacobs brand.

For over 40 years, Marc Jacobs has been recognized for its distinctive designs in handbags, small leather goods, ready-to-wear, footwear, eyewear, and fragrances, as well as for its strong global presence.

Since acquiring a majority stake in 1997, LVMH has been a historic partner and steward of the Marc Jacobs brand. Over nearly 30 years, LVMH has provided the strategic support and resources necessary to build, together with Marc Jacobs, the brand’s global presence and cultural relevance.

Marc Jacobs will continue to serve as founder and creative director, ensuring continuity in the brand’s vision, runway collections, and fashion shows.

“I will be forever grateful to Bernard Arnault for his support, trust, and esteem over the past 30 years. It has been an honor and a privilege to work alongside the Arnault family and LVMH. I remain committed to my role as Creative Director of Marc Jacobs International and look forward with enthusiasm to this brilliant new chapter,” said Marc Jacobs.

Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH, said: “Marc Jacobs is a designer of rare creativity and unique vision. His impact on the fashion world is undeniable, and I would like to thank him warmly for his contribution to the success of the House and the LVMH Group over the past 30 years. I am convinced that this new chapter will offer new opportunities for Marc Jacobs and that the brand and its designer will continue to inspire customers and creatives around the world.”

The brand will become a pillar of WHP Global’s premium fashion division, joining Vera Wang, Rag & Bone, and G-Star, further strengthening the company’s presence in high-growth global fashion segments. With the addition of Marc Jacobs, WHP Global will exceed US$9.5 billion in global retail sales.

As part of the transaction, G-III Apparel Group will also become a co-owner of the Marc Jacobs brand alongside WHP Global. G-III will also acquire and manage certain global direct-to-consumer and wholesale operations of the brand. Together, WHP Global, G-III, and Marc Jacobs will accelerate the brand’s next phase of growth through WHP Global’s licensing platform and G-III’s operational excellence.

The transaction is expected to close by the end of the year.
